Themes

You begin the Magi Process by deciding upon a Theme.

A Theme is a statement of the problem you would like to work on.

The themes you are working with do not have to be nicely worded. They must be thought about and felt in the body.

Whether you think "your side" is in the right or not is also ok: you hold that possibility in your body along with all other possibilities.

So we hold it all.

Not so much in language but as in "idea," or "theme."

Not so much in "question" as in the body.

You are not trying to "figure it out," or come to an understanding that this is wrong or how to make it right, but rather illuminate and reveal the scope of the problem.

The shape of the dissonance is felt, fully in the sensorium.

Examples of some past themes that people have worked with are:

  • "The polarization of American politics"
  • "All the ways adults misuse children"
  • "Peace in the middle east"
  • From these examples, you can see that it does not matter what you feel the solution should be. Whatever your particular point of view or bias is, that is included too as part of the "shape," or "dissonance," that comprises the difficulty you are trying to help by using the Process.
